A Joyful Afternoon of Sensory Play with Play Society & Tiny Land

On May 24, Tiny Land joined Play Society at Sunnyside Up Market in Huizenga Park for an afternoon of outdoor summer sensory play.

Children explored hands-on activities throughout the event, including the Tiny Land mud kitchen and market stand, sensory bins, and a variety of open-ended outdoor play setups.

The experience was supported on-site by early childhood development experts Jessica and Brittany, who guided families through play-based exploration when needed.
Water play quickly became the star activity children returned to throughout the afternoon. It also offered a simple way to stay cool in the summer heat while creating an engaging space for sensory exploration.
Children poured, scooped, transferred, and experimented with colored water, watching it blend and move through different containers and materials. They also moved freely between activities, often returning to water play and sensory stations again and again, following their own curiosity throughout the afternoon.
Caregivers stayed close — some joined in the play, while others observed or took photos as their children explored independently.
It was a relaxed afternoon of outdoor play, connection, and community time in the park.
Sunnyside Up Market featured a variety of vendor booths, creating a family-friendly space where children could play and explore while caregivers browsed, shopped, and enjoyed a free community event together.
Tiny Land is proud to be part of the local community and to collaborate with meaningful organizations like Play Society, bringing hands-on play experiences to children through open-ended and imaginative play.
