Some of childhood's most treasured memories aren't made with screens or busy schedules—they're made outdoors, sharing stories, preparing pretend meals, and discovering the world through play.
This summer, Tiny Land is delighted to partner with Honeybee Forest School for the Teddybear Picnic, a community gathering that celebrates nature, imagination, and meaningful family time.
If you're looking for a family-friendly outdoor event in Los Angeles, we'd love to welcome you on Sunday, July 19, 2026.
A Community Gathering Inspired by Nature
Hosted by Honeybee Forest School, the Teddybear Picnic is a small, community-based event designed for families with children ages 3–8.
Inspired by the forest school approach, the evening encourages children to explore freely, follow their curiosity, and connect with nature through open-ended play rather than structured lessons.
Families can look forward to:
- A relaxed picnic in the park
- Nature-inspired crafts
- Open-ended outdoor play
- A small interactive theatre performance
- Time to connect with other local families
The event will take place at Solano Canyon Playground in Los Angeles from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Sunday, July 19, 2026, creating a welcoming space where children can play, imagine, and learn through hands-on experiences in nature.
Where Pretend Play Meets the Outdoors
Tiny Land is proud to support this special event by bringing our Mud Kitchen as one of the free-play stations.
Instead of following instructions, children are invited to create their own adventures.
One child may prepare a woodland café for their favorite teddy bear.
Another may gather leaves, flowers, sticks, and stones to cook an imaginary dinner. Friends might host a picnic, serve afternoon tea, or invent entirely new stories together beneath the trees.
There is no script to follow and no "right" way to play.
These open-ended moments encourage imagination, communication, collaboration, and creative problem-solving while allowing children to naturally explore the outdoor environment.

Why Nature Play Matters
Outdoor play offers children experiences that simply can't be recreated indoors.
Natural environments spark curiosity. Wide-open spaces encourage movement. Leaves, rocks, branches, and flowers become ingredients, tools, or treasures—limited only by a child's imagination.
When pretend play meets nature, children aren't simply having fun. They're experimenting, storytelling, building confidence, strengthening social skills, and learning through experiences they create for themselves.
At Tiny Land, we believe the best toys don't tell children what to do—they inspire endless possibilities.
It's a philosophy that reflects what we believe childhood should be: imaginative, joyful, and filled with opportunities to learn through play.
