Celebrating Summer Through Creativity, Exploration, and Play
Summer is a season for children to explore, create, and discover the world around them through play.
On July 26, Tiny Land joined the Akron Art Museum’s Summer Family Day, a free community event that brought families together for an afternoon of outdoor activities, creative exploration, and hands-on experiences.
Hosted in the Akron Art Museum Garden, the event invited children and families to enjoy water play, art activities, and interactive experiences designed to encourage curiosity, creativity, and connection.

Bringing Open-Ended Outdoor Play to Life
As part of the event, Tiny Land introduced its Mud Kitchen experience, creating a space where children could explore imaginative play in a natural outdoor environment.
With simple tools, water, and open-ended materials, children were encouraged to create their own stories, experiment through sensory play, and follow their curiosity.
Through the Mud Kitchen experience, children explored:
- Mixing and pouring water through creative play scenarios
- Creating pretend recipes inspired by nature
- Exploring different textures through sensory play
- Building stories through imaginative role play
The Akron Art Museum team shared positive feedback after the event:
“kiddos LOVING the mud kitchen at our Water Family Day event!”

Creating More Opportunities for Children to Learn and Grow Through Play
At Tiny Land, we believe meaningful play helps children explore, imagine, and grow.
The Akron Art Museum has long been a place where creativity, discovery, and community connection come together. Through Summer Family Day, the museum created a welcoming environment where families could enjoy hands-on activities, outdoor exploration, and meaningful moments together.
Together with the Akron Art Museum, Tiny Land was honored to contribute an open-ended outdoor play experience that encouraged children to create, imagine, and connect through play.
By bringing together art, community, and play-based experiences, Tiny Land and the Akron Art Museum continue to support children’s curiosity, creativity, and joyful growth.
We look forward to partnering with more communities to create inspiring spaces where children and families can connect, explore, and grow through play.
